Texas Longhorns vs Ohio State Buckeyes
Week 1
We open up Week 1 of the College Football season with a Primetime game at NOON in Columbus, the rematch of last years semi finals in the College football playoffs Texas v Ohio State and boy was it and Defensive game. As I get older I'm learning and understanding the game on a technical level and looking and games like this and appreciate the small things I will be re watching this game and trying to find ways the Buckeyes can improve.
As for the game itself it was like I stated a Defensive oriented style game played slow and methodical. Julian Sayian for his first start controlled the game very well played within the system and delivered the buckeyes the win, no mistakes on his part he handled the game and the atmosphere well.
The Offensive line played ok, in the pass game they held up giving Sayian enough time to make his reads and keeping his jersey clean. In the run game the Bucks struggled with the point of attack Texas did a great job shooting the gaps on Ohio's runs. Ohio state was able to mustard 77 yards on 34 attempts which isn't good but it was enough to keep the clock running which Ohio controlled 32 minutes to Texas 27 minutes.
The wide receivers were not called upon as much today Carnell Tate had a major catch for a touchdown that put the Buckeyes up 14-7. Everyone was banking on Jerimiah Smith on having a major game but if we look back on how Texas defended him in that Semi Finals you will understand why.
Now for the Defense they played a bend but don't break type of defense that stopped Texas when the time was urgent. Aside for the deep touchdown pass that Arch threw they had little to no success moving and scoring the ball. The front 7 deserves major props for how they handled the Texas O-Line and how the were Disciplined. That is the key word to day Disciplined and sound football that was able to put pressure Arch while simultaneously keep him contained in the pocket, credit to defensive backs for covering well on the backend.
Now I expect this to be Ohio States worst display on Offense this season as time goes on we will see he Offense open up and see the anticipated duo with Smith and Sayin. As for that we move on next week on the quest to REPEAT against Grambling.
